Reclaimed Oak from Compton Verney

ANTIQUE OAK FLOORING

PLEASE NOTE WE NO LONGER SELL RECLAIMED FLOORING

We cleared all our reclaimed flooring in 2012 and we now concentrate on door furniturewindow furniture and bathroom accessories. All traditional in style and best quality. Click here to go to our home page.

We currently have left in stock just over 20 square metres of antique oak flooring. This was carefully lifted by skilled workmen from a Grade 1 listed Robert Adam mansion in Warwickshire called Compton Verney. The oak was removed when the property underwent a 10 year restoration. It is now an internationally renown art gallery.

This antique oak is some of the finest we have ever had in all the years we have been trading. We believe it dates back to work done somewhere between 1750 and 1800. Board widths are 5-10″ with most around the 7-8″ mark. Thickness is about 7/8″ but may vary a little. We have about 25-30 square metres in stock. Lengths in the main are quite short. Price was £190 + vat per square metre. In our clearance sale this is now down to £130 + vat psm.

The board surfaces are as they were when they came up – untouched, dusty, but with a superb antique patina. They need to be cleaned individually with minimum disturbance to the board face, then lovingly and carefully laid by a carpenter who loves Reclaimed timber. We recommend a wax polish such as Briwax or Fiddes wax as a surface finish.

Please note, we do not sell antique oak unseen and we do not sell only the wide width boards, (even at a premium!) as this could devalue the whole batch and alter the original character of the flooring.

Some photos of our reclaimed oak are below. For further information please call us on 01746 712450.
