Selecting The Right Type Of Hook
May 21, 2015
Hooks are great for keeping us tidy! They come in different shapes and sizes for many uses. Some are large, sturdy and designed to take lots of weight and others are small and lightweight and designed for an easier life.
We have hooks in several finishes, iron, pewter patina, brass, nickel and oak. This is perhaps the first thing to consider. Where will this hook be fixed and which finish will be the most suitable? Our oak hooks for example look great on oak planked doors or in homes where there are timber beams. If you have a Victorian home with brass door knobs on painted doors, then brass hooks will be the obvious choice. The next thing to consider is what you are going to hang on the hook.
Hat and Coat Hook – a sturdy double hook, designed to take a coat or jacket on the lower hook and a hat to sit on the hook above. These are generally used on the rear of doors, in hallways, entrances, back kitchens or wherever hats and coats need to be stored. Sometimes hooks look attractive when several are mounted to a back board and we can supply some of our hooks ready mounted. If in oak, we make bespoke sizes. We also have large iron hat and coat hooks which are suitable for stables, garden sheds and outside use.
Kitchen Hooks – In kitchens you may want to have hat and coat hooks behind doors and then you may need single hooks for hand and tea towels, cups and mugs. Our range of small single hooks are ideal for this.
Bathroom Hooks – Hooks are a great way to store towels and bath robes. We have specialist bathroom hooks in our bathroom accessory ranges. Polished chrome is the most popular finish in bathrooms.
Some of our most popular hooks are shown below and you can click on the links to shop for these items:
Iron Hat and Coat Hook – a large chunky hook for inside or outside use.
Small Brass Beehive Hook – a single hook with an attractive beehive end.
Pewter Acorn Hat and Coat Hook – a double hook which has attractive acorn detailing on the hook ends
