PERIOD DOOR KNOBS FOR FRONT DOORS
If you are looking for a pair of door knobs for your front door, here we review some of our best selling big ones!
Before you decide on your door knobs, you need to consider the other items you need for the front door e.g. door knocker, letter plate and locks. Will you be using a central door pull or just the pair of door knobs? You also need to decide what finish and what style door furniture will suit your period door.
Generally external doors are larger than interior ones, so door knobs need to be of a larger diameter. This is so they look proportionally correct on the door as well as making a statement. Before selecting your door knobs, it is important to make sure your lock or latch is suitable for larger diameter door knobs, as you do not want to be catching your fingers between the door and frame. The latch also needs a heavy duty spring for the extra heavy load it carries. Also remember, that as well as a larger diameter they also project further and have larger backplates.
Once you have done the above and decided you want a pair of door knobs, you can see our most popular styles below. We have classic period styles such as the Beehive, Bloxwich and Octagonal, plain styles such as the Harley, Oval and Ball and a superb decorative casting of a Lion’s Head. Take your choice!
